Wanna hear your songs mastered through high-end analog equipment?

I master hybrid, which means that in addition to working solely "in the box" using a multitude of industry-standard plug-ins, I also make sure that every song runs through world-class AD/DA conversion by Antelope Audio into a variety of boutique analog outboards, including compressors and equalizers by Manley, Prism Sound, Pultec, Avalon Audio, TL Audio, Teletronix, Tube-Tech, UREI, and Focusrite giving your music that coveted analog sound so sought after in modern recordings.

Benefit from my expertise and passion

My skills combine the necessary technical knowledge, the right tools and an insatiable passion for sound.

With years of experience, a degree in audio engineering and an impressive track record spanning almost every genre of music, I am your go-to-guy for your mixing and mastering needs.

As a musician myself, I realize exactly how tedious and frustrating it can be, to devote hours upon hours to recording your projects and still not get the desired results in terms of sound quality. That's over now.

Allow me to mix and master your 'babies' and I will treat them as if they were my own, giving them the time and attention needed to get the best results possible.

Top-notch acoustics and monitoring

You can't fix what you can't hear, right?

My state-of-the-art KRK Exposé E8B reference speakers, as well as my two other nearfield monitors - including PSI Audio, and Neumann - allow me to hear your songs exactly the way they really sound and reveal flaws in your mix that will otherwise remain hidden.

Combined with the accurate and made-to-measure acoustics in my studio, I am able to expertly balance out every part of your track until it "sits" just right.

Free revisions on every master

Each master comes with unlimited free revisions based on your feedback.

My first round of masters almost always get approved, but if there’s anything that isn’t perfect, please let me know and I’ll make it right.

Once you receive the files, you will be able to make any changes if necessary.

Fast turnaround

I understand deadlines. And I respect your time! I'm not going to promise to get your project done by a specific date if I know I'm already fully booked.  I'm pretty quick, though.

Standard Turnaround: 3 days

Express Service: Next Business Day

No additional fees for songs with overlength

It doesn't matter whether your song is 3 minutes long, 7 or even 10 - you pay the standard rate of $39 (and yes, I've mastered songs 10 minutes long).

Common mixing mistakes I tackle during mastering

EDM MASTERING SERVICE
  • Sub-Bass (anything below 100 Hz) covering up the kick drum and midrange  detail

  • Either too little bass or too much bass due to use of small range speakers and mixing in a room that has not been properly treated to help tighten up impulse  response and attenuate room modes

  • Edgy, fatiguing and harsh sound in the 2kHz - 6kHz area

  • No Sparkle and Bottom

My goal is to achieve the perfect balance of loudness, liveliness and emotional impact. I will work to correct the frequency balance, stereo optimize, treat the dynamics, and increase the loudness of your music in a transparent and effective manner.  The end result is greatly improved sound quality and a cohesive finished product.

With each project I do, I not only strive to meet your expectations,

I strive to exceed them!

Frequently asked questions

24 bit .wav or .aif files electronically via Wetransfer to our email philip@philipdust.com.

Files should be named accordingly with track number, title and mix version (eg: 07_The Song_vocal+1dB).

It’s generally best to leave the sample rate at your existing rate (eg: 44.1, 48,

88.2 or 96kHz) and ensure there’s no 16 bit dither on your 24 bit master buss.

Additionally, with 24 bit resolution there is no need to have peak levels at maximum

(0dB full scale). Mixing to peak a few dB below maximum (not simply reducing a maximized/clipped mix by a few dB) is ideal.

Always carefully listen back through your exported mixes prior to the mastering session.

In what format should

I send my mixes?

DEFINITELY NOT. Normalizing functions in computer programs actually degenerate the quality of the audio signal. If you feel you need to run a compressor on the mix buss but are unsure, do a version with it but also do another mix without it. Listen to compression switched in and out but compared at equal levels. It’s possible you may slam it too hard, or the attack or release may not be quite right. It’s very difficult to repair that kind of damage to your audio files. By having versions of your mixes unprocessed, we can avoid such problems.

Should I normalize or

peak limit my music

prior to mastering?

Can you create a

DDP image for

CD manufacturing?

Yes, I  can prepare a DDP image for your CD duplication. Price is $40.

If you are looking to have some of your questions answered or would like to get a project started with me, please feel free to drop me a line.

I'll get back to you as quickly as possible.
